Women's basketball team picks up conference win against St. Petersburg

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team used a big second half to defeat St. Petersburg 76-65 in a Suncoast Conference game Wednesday night at Titan Field House. 

Trailing by one at halftime, sophomore Sierra Votaw scored 13 of the team's 21 points in the third quarter including five of a key 7-0 run to give the Titans the lead for good halfway through the third quarter.

Angeni Worley hit her third 3-pointer of the game with six minutes left in the game to give the Titans a 10-point lead. Worley has hit at least one 3-pointer in every game this season and finished with 10 points in the game. Skye Williams and Votaw each scored eight points in the fourth quarter as the Titans pulled away for the conference win.

Votaw scored a season-best 23 points while Williams finished with 14 points, Jacquelyn Levay scored 12 and Mercy Gonzalez had 11 for the Titans.

 The Titans, who are 12-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference, will travel to Hillsborough Community College at noon on Saturday. Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House next Wednesday against Florida Southwestern at 5:30 p.m.
