Mariah Batz gives women's basketball team win over No. 7 South Georgia Tech

Mariah Batz hit a 3-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining to give the Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team a 55-53 win over No. 7 South Georgia Technical College Sunday in the Lady Jets Holiday Classic in Georgia.

The ball looked like it was going out of bounds but Alexandrine Obouh Fegue grabbed it as she was falling out of bounds and found Batz who buried the 3-pointer with time running out. It was the second time in the tournament that Batz hit a game winner.

"So many times a coach will talk about team effort but today was truly and absolutely a team effort. Everyone contributed to us getting this win over a very good, nationally-ranked team," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach MJ Baker said.

Embla Andersson came off the bench to lead the Titans with a season-high 15 points while Ieva Spigule had 12 points. The game winner was one of two 3-pointers from Batz who had six points in the game.

Eastern Florida State College improved to 11-3 on the season with the win and will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday night, hosting Indian River State College. The game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and will be shown live on WEFS-TV and online at efscttans.com/webcast
