Titans women's basketball team loses to Florida Southwestern

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team lost to Florida Southwestern 81-67 Saturday afternoon in a Southern Conference game at Titan Field House.

The Titans led for most of the first half, extending the lead to as many as 10 points in the second quarter but Florida Southwestern went on an 8-0 run just before the half before a Victoria Morales 3-pointer made sure the Titans went to the locker room with a 38-35 lead.

Florida Southwestern would take the lead early in the third quarter and the teams traded baskets for much of the third quarter with the Titans down one heading to the fourth quarter.

The Buccaneers would go on an 11-3 run to start the fourth and outscored the Titans 27-13 in the quarter.

The Titans were led by Caitlyn Smith who finished with 24 points. It is the fourth straight game that Smith has scored at least 13 points. Teammate Trudy Walker finished with 14 points and 16 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Theodora Odia had nine points.

Eastern Florida (7-17, 2-5) will be back at Titan Field House next Saturday, hosting Miami-Dade at 2 p.m.
