Women's basketball team falls to first-place Palm Beach State

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team battled first-place Palm Beach State but fell short, 85-76 in a Southern Conference road game Saturday.

After a slow start, the Titans rallied in the second quarter and led by as many as seven but Palm Beach State came back and led by one point at halftime.

But Palm Beach State prevailed with a strong third quarter giving them a six-point lead. The Panthers are now 5-0 in the Southern Conference and 16-2 overall.

Trudy Walker had a big day for the Titans, scoring a team-high 29 points to go with 13 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. The 29-point effort was a career high for the sophomore from Fort Pierce.

Teammate Caitlyn Smith also had a career day as the freshman finished with 22 points.

Eastern Florida State College fell to 6-16 overall and 1-4 in the conference. The Titans will host ASA Miami on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. The game will be shown live on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
