Titan women's basketball team falls to St. Petersburg

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team could not find the range Tuesday night, falling to St. Petersburg College 70-66 at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans shot just 37 percent from the floor and 22 percent from the 3-point line but were within a basket much of the fourth quarter Tuesday night.

"We talked in preparations that we needed to vary how we score and … we just took some bad shots," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach Jim Grimes said. "We made poor decisions with the ball and a lot of the principles that we preach we just didn't execute very well."

Trudy Walker was dominating on both ends of the court, finishing with a game-high 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the contest. Teammate Dysheka Price added 15 points and Caitlyn Smith had 11 for the Titans, who are 1-1 on the season.

"We didn't execute well when we needed to and that is a good team and you can't make mistakes against them like we did and expect to win," Grimes said.

Eastern Florida will hit the road for the first time this season on Thursday, facing the Florida State College of Jacksonville at 6 p.m.
