Softball team will hit road for conference doubleheader Thursday

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will hit the road for a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Thursday.

The Titans, who are now 18-18 in the conference, split a doubleheader against Miami Dade College on Tuesday and will travel to Hillsborough Community College on Thursday. Eastern Florida State College is one of the top offensive teams in Region 8, hitting .360 as a team. Leadoff hitter Livie Davis comes into the doubleheader hitting .402 with 10 doubles this season. Teammate McKenzie Jewell is hitting .386 and Madison Ford is hitting .381.

Starting pitcher Hannah Strickland is coming off a strong performance against Miami Dade and has a 2.27 ERA this season.

Hillsborough Community College has lost three in a row and is led offensively by Brooke Markiewicz who is hitting .364 while teammate Sonae Simmons is hitting .333 with eight doubles, five triples and three home runs.

Thursday's doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. at New Tampa Community Park.
