Softball team hosts Miami Dade Tuesday live on WEFS-TV

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host Miami Dade College in a key Citrus Conference matchup Tuesday that will be shown live on WEFS-TV.

The Titans come into the matchup with Miami Dade in a battle for fifth spot in the standings. The top five teams go to the FCSAA Division I NJCAA South Atlantic District Tournament while the sixth-place team has to play its way into the tournament.

Miami Dade comes in on a three-game winning streak and has been playing good softball the past month to get back into the postseason race. The Sharks come into the doubleheader 15-18-1 in the conference. Starting pitcher Carina Amarilla tossed a no-hitter on Saturday against Seminole State College as the Sharks split the doubleheader.

Eastern Florida State College is now 16-16 in the conference and comes into the doubleheader hitting .362 as a team. Sophomore Jenna Borkey is hitting .407 this season and the centerfielder has stolen 43 bases which is third in Region 8 and tied for sixth in NJCAA Division I rankings.

Tuesday's doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex and will be shown live locally on WEFS-TV, channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission is free to the games and you can watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
