Softball team loses both ends of doubleheader to No. 4 Indian River

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a couple of games to No. 4 Indian River State College Tuesday evening at Titan Softball Complex.

The Titans lost to the Pioneers 7-2 and 7-4 in a couple of Citrus Conference games as the Titans are now 12-12 in the conference.

In Game 1, the Titans were down 5-0 before Jenna Borkey singled and stole second, scoring on Madison Ford's single. But J'dah Girigorie had to re-enter the game to stop the rally.

The Titans would score in the seventh as Faith Campos doubled and scored on Brooke Theisen's sacrifice fly.

In Game 2, the Pioneers once again had a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning but the Titans would respond with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, forcing the Pioneers to go back to Grigorie.

McKenzie Jewell hit an RBI triple and then Theisen singled and stole a base before Borkey hit a two-run triple. Borkey would score on Maci Vonderstrasse's RBI single.

They would threaten in the sixth inning, but Grigorie would get out of the jam and pick up the save in Game 2.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Santa Fe College on Thursday, who is ahead of the Titans in the standings. The conference doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern Florida State College will return home for a doubleheader against the College of Central Florida on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
