Softball team travels to Miami Dade Tuesday for conference doubleheader

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will hit the road for a key Citrus Conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

The Titans, who are receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I National Poll, come into the doubleheader with Miami Dade College 8-8 in the conference and have won five of the past six games. Miami Dade is 6-11 but five of the eight wins this season have come at home.

The doubleheader in Miami begins at 2 p.m. with the second game scheduled for 4 p.m.

Eastern Florida State College pitcher Alanna O'Brien is fourth in Region VIII in ERA with a 1.34 ERA and is coming off a strong week. Teammate Hannah Strickland is seventh in ERA, posting a 1.59 ERA in 75 innings of work.

Offensively, the Titans are third in Region VIII in batting average, hitting .376 as a team. Livie Davis is hitting .458 in 32 games this season while Jenna Borkey is hitting .449 and is among the Region VIII leaders in stolen bases with 29.

Miami Dade's Jaiden Tretter is hitting .354 this season with 12 RBI.

The Titans will be back at Titan Softball Complex on Saturday to host the three-time defending national champion Florida Southwestern State College who is ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division I national poll. The conference doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
