Softball team falls to College of Central Florida in conference doubleheader

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader Thursday afternoon in Ocala.

The No. 14 ranked Titans lost the battle of top 15 teams with No. 8 College of Central Florida, falling 6-1 and 11-2.

In Game 1, Hannah Strickland pitched well, allowing two runs in the first five innings as the Titans took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Brooke Theisen drove in the run.

The College of Central Florida tied the game in the fourth and took the lead with a run in the fifth. The Patriots would open the game up in the sixth inning, scoring four times.

Marisa Shoudt went 2-for-2 in the game as the Titans had five hits.

Game 2 was all College of Central Florida as they would score five times in the first inning and three more times in the second inning, highlighted by Caitlin Blankenship's two-run home run.

The Titans would strike for two runs in the top of the third inning as Faith Campos and Theisen each scored.

Blankenship would hit a second home run in the win for the Patriots.

Theisen finished with two hits in the game.

Eastern Florida State College (17-7, 2-6) will be back at Titan Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon, hosting No. 13 Seminole State College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
