Softball team loses pair of games

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a couple of games at Titan Softball Complex Saturday.

The Titans lost the first game of the day to Indian River State College 7-2 as the Pioneers scored six times in the first inning.

Eastern Florida State College would score twice in the bottom of the third inning as Makenzie Fore doubled, scoring Marisa Shoudt and Trinity Howard. It was one of the three hits the Titans got against Indian River State College starter Alina Varga.

In Game 2, the Pioneers defeated the State College of Florida-Manatee 6-1.

The Titans took the field in Game 3 of the day against SCF-Manatee and scored twice in the first inning as Trinity Howard led off with a triple, scored on a Rachel Lamoureaux bunt and then stole third. Lamoureaux would score on Makenzie Fore's triple.

But Manatee would strand Fore and then tie it in the second and score four times in the fourth to take the lead.

Down 5-2, the Titans scored in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Gracie Snell that scored Faith Campos. They would threaten in the bottom of the seventh inning, but could not capitalize, falling 6-3.

Howard finished with two of the team's six hits.

Eastern Florida State College will host Florida Southwestern on Wednesday for a doubleheader at Titan Softball Complex beginning at 2 p.m.
