Softball team loses conference opener at Florida Southwestern

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost its Southern Conference opener at Florida Southwestern State College Saturday afternoon.

The Titans fell to host and No. 3 ranked Florida Southwestern 5-0 to fall to 0-1 in the conference and 14-21 overall.

Starting pitcher Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings and Makenzie Fore and Ava Bassani had the two hits in the game for the Titans.

The game was tight until the sixth inning when Florida Southwestern scored four of its five runs.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Indian River State College for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting the State College of Florida-Manatee and Indian River in a tri-match on Saturday.
