Softball team loses pair of games at home

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a pair of games to Seminole State College Tuesday evening at Titan Softball Complex.

The Titans lost Game 1 10-0 and then fell 7-2 in Game 2 to fall to 4-10 on the season.

In Game 1, Seminole State College scored twice in the first inning behind back-to-back doubles and then an RBI single. The Raiders opened things up in the second inning, sending 10 players to the plate and scored five times, three coming on a three-run home run by Mel Bullock. Seminole State scored three more times in the fifth inning.

In Game 2, the Titans got off to a quick start as Courtney Stout hit a triple and scored on a ball that got past the catcher in the bottom of the first inning.

Starting pitcher Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor held Seminole State College scoreless for the first three innings, getting out of a jam in the third.

But Seminole State College took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, using their speed to score three times in the inning. They would score twice in the fourth and fifth innings to complete the sweep.

Stout scored both runs for the Titans and had two hits in the game.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Softball Complex Thursday for a doubleheader against St. Johns River State College that begins at 2 p.m. Admission to games at Titan Softball Complex is free.
