Softball team loses pair against Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College softball team was swept in a doubleheader against Santa Fe College Thursday at Titan Softball Complex on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans fell to 4-8 on the season, losing 4-1 and 7-3 on Thursday.

In Game 1, freshman starter Kat Wisor started with three scoreless innings before the Saints had three of the first four players hit singles and all three scored as Kayla Alexandre hit a bases-loaded triple. The Titans would get a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning as Courtney Stour was hit by a pitch, stole second base and went to third on a sacrifice bunt from Gracie Snell. Sam Clark hit a single, scoring Stout for the first run of the game for the Titans.

Up 3-1, the Saints would add a run in the sixth inning and got a big double play in the bottom of the seventh to hang on for the win.

Destiny Lake tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

The Saints would score three runs in the third inning, but Eastern Florida State College scored once in the bottom of the third inning as Trinity Howard hit an infield single, stole second and scored.

But the Saints scored three more in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Titans would score two more times in the bottom of the inning as Sam Formosa was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Faith Campos would also get hit by a pitch and then Howard hit a sacrifice bunt. A walk by Courtney Stout loaded the bases and after a strikeout, Clark ripped a single that scored two runs to make it 6-3.

The Saints would score one more run in the sixth inning to make it 7-3.

Clark went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game.

Eastern Florida State College will host Seminole State College Tuesday with the doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex. Admission is free to games at Titan Softball Complex.
