Softball team beats Georgia Military in season opener

The Eastern Florida State College softball team defeated Georgia Military College 3-2 in 10 innings in the season opener at the JUCO Kickoff in Clearwater.

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 10th inning, Faith Campos began the inning at second base. Ava Bassani hit the sacrifice bunt to send her to third and with two outs, Rachel Lamoureaux hit a line drive single to left field, scoring Campos with the winning run.

Down 2-0 in the first inning, the Titans got a two-out rally going as Makenzie Fore doubled, Trinity Howard drove her in with a single and then stole second. Lamoureaux singled to score Howard and tie the game.

From there both pitchers took over as Trinity Howard struck out 12 and walked two in 10 innings, allowing the two unearned runs.

Fore, Lamoureaux and Ariana Gonzales each had two hits in the game as the Titans finished with nine.

Georgia Military, who went to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament last season, had six hits against Howard.
