Eight softball players named to all-Southern Conference team

Eight members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the All-Southern Conference team on Monday afternoon.

The Titans, who finished 26-24 and came up just short of a postseason berth last weekend, had four players make the first team and then four more make the second team. 

Sophomore Kayla Domon was named to the first team for the second straight season and was the runner-up for Player of the Year in the conference.

The centerfielder hit .416 in 49 games, with six triples and scored 41 runs. The Knoxville, Tennessee native stole 48 bases which is tied for second in the state.

Teammate Brooke Theisen also hit .416 this season in 48 games with seven doubles and drove in 21 runs while scoring 44 runs. The freshman stole 19 bases this season.

Makenzie Fore also made the first team after hitting .352 in her freshman season with 10 doubles, three home runs and drive in 27 runs in 50 games.

Pitcher Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor was also named to the first team, winning 13 games with a 2.11 ERA and struck out 123 hitters in 132.2 innings.

Four more players made the second team.

Trinity Howard also made the all-conference team for the second straight season, being named to the second team after posting six wins with a 4.62 ERA over 124.1 innings of work.

Catcher Rachel Lamoureaux hit .270 in 40 games this season and was a good defensive catcher for the Titans. The sophomore drove in 10 runs and scored 18 times.

Alyssa Tossi hit .298 with five doubles after taking over at second base during the season. The freshman scored eight times and drove in another five in 20 games this season.

Sophomore utility player Kaitlyn Wilson hit .262, driving in 15 runs in 32 games for the Titans.
