Softball team travels to Miami Dade to battle for second place

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will travel to Miami Dade College Saturday for a doubleheader with second place in the Southern Conference on the line.

The Titans and Sharks enter Saturday's games tied for second place at 11-9 in the conference with one week left in the regular season. The top two teams in the conference will make the FCSAA State/NJCAA South Atlantic District Tournament beginning May 6 at Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the doubleheader 7-3 in the past 10 games and split with first-place Indian River State College on Wednesday evening. 

Miami Dade is 4-6 in the past 10 games but has won four of the six contests with the Titans this season. The team's split the doubleheader on April 9 at Titan Softball Complex.

The Sharks are one of the top hitting teams in the state, hitting .320 as a team this season. Raissa Bianco is leading the team, hitting .432 in 46 games.

Eastern Florida State College's Brooke Theisen is hitting .427 in 40 games while teammate Kayla Domon is hitting .421 this season for the Titans. Domon reached 40 stolen bases on Wednesday and continues to be a threat on the base paths.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at noon in Miami. The Titans will wrap up the conference regular season on Wednesday at Titan Softball Complex against South Florida State College. Wednesday's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.

The Titans are trying to make it to the state tournament for the first time since 2019.
