Softball team has 11 named to all-Southern Conference teams

Eleven members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the all-Southern Conference team.

Five players were named to the first team including Lauren Lightbody who was named the Player of the Year.

Lightbody, a freshman right fielder from Tampa, is hitting .481 with nine stolen bases and 18 runs batted in in 38 games this season.

Centerfielder Kayla Domon is hitting .345 in 40 games this season, hitting 13 doubles which is a team high and tied for 14th in the state. The sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee has scored 22 runs and stolen six bases this season.

Second baseman Meritxell Blesa is hitting .382 in 38 games this season with 22 runs batted in. The sophomore from Valencia, Spain has scored 30 runs and a team-high four triples.

Starting pitcher Trinity Howard finishes the season with an 11-9 record and a 3.19 ERA in 167 innings pitched. The freshman from Tampa has struck out 108 hitters which is fifth in the state.

Outfielder Jaydah Stroup is hitting .388 in 32 games this season. The freshman from Coral Springs has six stolen bases and has scored 18 runs.

Shortstop Gabriela Garcia, catcher Rachel Lamoreaux, third baseman Madison Neuhaus, pitcher/infielder Shaniyah Pope and infielder Olivia Rivera were all named to the second team all-Southern Conference team.
