Softball team loses pair of conference games

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a pair of Southern Conference games on the road Wednesday.

The Titans lost to No. 10 Indian River State College 10-3 and 11-8 to fall to 0-6 in the conference.

In Game 1, the Titans got on the board first as Kayla Domon doubled and scored on Kaitlyn Wilson's single. But Indian River State College scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. The Pioneers would add a run in the third and score five times in the fourth inning to take an 8-1 lead.

 The Titans would score runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Domon had four hits including two doubles and drove in a run and scored another in the loss.

In Game 2, the Pioneers took an early 3-0 lead, but Wilson hit a three-run home run in the third inning to tie the game. It was Wilson's first home run of the season.

Indian River State College scored five times in the bottom of the third and led 11-5 heading to the seventh inning.

The Titans tried to rally as Meritxell Blesa doubled to score Wilson to cut lead to 11-6. Then Rachel Lamoureaux reached on an error that scored Olivia Rivera and Blesa. But the Titans could not get any closer.

Blesa and Lauren Lightbody each had three hits in the game while Wilson had two hits and drove in three runs.

Eastern Florida State College will host Indian River State College Wednesday, April 7 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
