Softball team splits with Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College softball team split with Santa Fe Thursday afternoon in Gainesville.
The Titans, who are now 7-7 on the season, broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning with three runs to claim a 5-3 win.
Katelyn Wilfert picked up the win, her fourth of the season and hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
Tied 2-2 in the eighth, Katia Zavala gave the Titans a 3-2 lead with an RBI single, Jaidyn Ahl made it 4-2 with an RBI groundout and Taylor Ignacio ripped an RBI double to make it 5-2.
Santa Fe would score once in the bottom of the eighth, but Wilfert gets the strikeout with two on to end the game.
In Game 2 the Titans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning behind RBI doubles by Victoria Perez and Zavala. Eastern Florida State College would add a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings to lead 6-0.
Santa Fe would score six times in the bottom of the fifth inning and take a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Titans would tie the game 7-7 in the top of the eighth inning on Morgan Johnston's sacrifice fly, but Santa Fe won it in the bottom of the eighth.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to the College of Central Florida next Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
