Softball team scores four times in seventh to sweep Daytona State

The Eastern Florida State College softball team scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning to sweep Daytona State College Tuesday evening at Titan Softball Complex on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans headed to the bottom of the seventh inning trailing Daytona State College 5-2 but the Titans rallied back for their first sweep of the season.

Sarah Goldsmith led off the inning with a double and with one out Gabriela Garcia singled and then Madison Neuhaus walked to load the bases. Katelyn Wilfert's RBI single made it 5-3 and Victoria Perez came up and delivered a two-run single to tie the game, 5-5.

After Daytona State recorded a second out, Jaidyn Ahl stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter with two on and hit a changeup to left-center field that scored Wilfert and gave the Titans the sweep.

Sarah Thomas and Perez each had two hits in the game and Wilfert picked up the win in relief.

Daytona's Giavonna Auricchio gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead with a three-run home run. It was the second home run of the day for Auricchio.

In Game 1, Ahl went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI as the Titans picked up the 6-2 victory.

Wilfert pitched a complete game, allowing just Auricchio's two-run home run in the fourth inning to pick up her first win of the day.

Eastern Florida State College (5-6) will travel to St. Johns River State College Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m.
