Softball team loses a pair to SCF Manatee

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday evening against State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota at Titan Softball Complex on the Melbourne campus.

Game 1 was a pitching duel as Olivia Everett made the start and after allowing a run in the top of the first inning, pitched six innings of shutout softball.

Unfortunately, the Titans had only scored one run as well, forcing the game into extra innings. SCF Manatee would score four times in the top of the eighth to take the win 5-1.

The Titans lone run came in the first inning as Mary Waldron hit a double and scored on Nikki Pennington's triple with two outs. The Titans had chances to take the lead, leaving runners on base in every inning.

Left fielder Alice Gannaway finished with two hits.

Game 2 was all SCF Manatee, winning 13-2 as Carina McCarver and Mary Waldron each scored a run.

The Titans will travel to the State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
