Florida State College at Jacksonville
The Eastern Florida State College softball team split a doubleheader with Florida State College at Jacksonville Saturday at Titan Softball Complex.
The Titans won the first game 8-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Jordan Lawlis and some timely hitting. Lawlis allowed one run on six hits and struck out two for her second win.
The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as leadoff hitter Hannah Crumblish doubled and scored on Caitlin Meyer's double.
The Blue Wave would tie it in the top of the second, but the Titans struck back for three runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Already up 4-1, Nkki Pennington drove in a pair of runs with a triple in the fourth and scored on Alice Gannaway's single.
In Game 2, the Titans once again had the early lead as Pennington blasted a three-run home run in the third inning. But FSC Jacksonville would score twice in the fourth and six times in the fifth to take game 2 9-3.
The Titans will host State College of Florida Manatee on Tuesday evening in a doubleheader that begins at 4 p.m. Manatee comes into the game 12-4 on the season.
