Busy weekend for the softball team whose home opener is Sunday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host Seminole State Sunday in the team's home opener as part of a big weekend for the Titans.
The softball team is 2-4 after a long weekend at the JUCO Kickoff Classic in Clearwater and will travel to St. Petersburg Saturday afternoon to face the 2-1 Titans in a doubleheader.
Then on Sunday, Eastern Florida State College will host No. 10 Seminole State College who is 5-1 on the season in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.
Sophomore Jordan Lawlis had a big weekend in Clearwater, hitting .526 with five RBI and six runs scored. In the season opener, Lawlis drove in the tying run and then scored the winning run against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She was also the winning pitcher, throwing a three-hitter. In 13 innings, Lawlis has a 1-1 record with four strikeouts and a 2.15 ERA.
