Titans Softball Splits Doubleheader at Palm Beach State
Eastern Florida's softball team split a doubleheader at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth on Wednesday.
The Titans won the opener 6-0 but fell in the second game, 9-1.
The split moved the second-place Titans to 9-7 in the FCSAA Southern Conference and 21-21 overall. Fourth-place Palm Beach is 6-8 in conference.
Alexa Snyder pitched the first-game shutout and got offensive support from Natasha Kistler who was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, accounting for four runs batted in. Karli Smith went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, her team-best sixth of the season.
Snyder took the loss in the second game in which the Titans managed just three hits. Rosie Lyard had two hits and Hannah Roberts a double and an RBI.
Snyder is 17-14 on the season.
Eastern Florida has four conference games remaining. It hosts first-place Indian River State at 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday and visits last-place Broward April 15.
Indian River has beaten the Titans three times by one run.
The conference's top four finishers advance to the April 29-May 1 NJCAA District/FCSAA Tournament at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach. The Titans are seeking their 12th straight tournament berth under head coach Ed Yanes.
The Titans host non-conference foe Hillsborough Community College at 2 and 4 p.m. Friday. Admission to Titan home games on the Palm Bay Campus is free.
