Titans top Broward to go 1-1 on first day of Southern Conference tourney

April 2, 2016 – The Eastern Florida State College softball team got strong games from Morgan Payne, Hannah Roberts and Natasha Kistler to help salvage the first day of the Southern Conference tournament on Saturday.

Roberts went 2 for 3 with a triple, Kistler went 3 for 4 and Payne got the job done on the mound as the Titans defeated Broward College 6-3 in a game played at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth.

Earlier in the day, the Titans lost 3-2 to Indian River State College.

Karli Smith had a pair of doubles for EFSC in that one.

EFSC (20-18) will be back in action at the round-robin formatted tournament on Sunday.

The Titans will play Miami Dade at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. game against Palm Beach State College.
