Doug Butler took over the brand new cross country program at Eastern Florida State College in 2021-22 and the program took off right from the start.

The men's team won the NJCAA Region 8 championship for the first time at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Eastern Florida State College topped Seminole State College for the title to advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship. The Titans placed 15th overall at the antional tournament in tehir first appearance.

Buter was named the NJCAA Division I Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 2022 by the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association.

Butler coaches both the men's and women's cross country teams and also continues as the head coach of the Satellite High School cross country teams.

Butler has won 24 state championships and been the runner-up 15 times in his high school coaching career at both Holy Trinity and Satellite High.
