Men's cross country team to run for Region 8 title Friday

The Eastern Florida State College men's cross country team will run at the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee on Friday.

The Titans are the defending Division I champions and finished second overall in last year's race.

"We haven't been able to race the past two meets due to the two hurricanes but our men's team is fit and ready to race," Eastern Florida State College men's cross country coach Doug Butler said. "We've had a couple of time trials the past two weeks and the guys have really stepped up. Adem (Bouldjadj) is going to be tough to beat and we have a crew of guys that can run in the 26s to support him."

Eastern Florida State College will battle Seminole State for the Division I title and five other Division II team's for the overall title at the Apalachee Regional Park. The race begins at 8 a.m.

The Titans have finished in the top six in the two events they have competed in and Bouldjadj won the Mocs XC Kick-Off on Sept. 6. The team has not run in an event since Sept. 13.

"Ivan (Floresta), Nick (Hernandez), Joey (Coyle), Olmar (Bartolon), Miguel (Angel), Noah (McMann), Colin (McAdams) could all be in our top five and help us reach our goal of winning the region title," Butler said.

The Titans have won the past two Region 8 titles.
