Men's cross country team opens season Friday at FAU event

The Eastern Florida State College men's cross country team will open the season by running in the ninth annual FAU Cross Country Invitational on Friday.

The men's cross country team is led by Dayton Law who won the Region 8 individual title in his freshman season. Law will miss this event because of injury but the other four sophomores will compete with a talented group of freshmen.

"I am very excited to see where we are at as we race against some of the best colleges in Florida," Eastern Florida State College men's cross country coach Doug Butler said. "We have been working very hard and are fit and the men's team is very deep this year."

Among the 20 teams scheduled to run in the event are NCAA Division I programs FIU, FAU, University of Miami, Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, NCAA Division II teams Barry University, Lynn University and Nova Southeastern as well as Daytona State College, Lake Sumter and Palm Beach Atlantic. The event will be run at Boca Raton's South County Regional Park at 6:30 p.m.

The Titans were scheduled to compete at the Valdosta State Border Clash event but Hurricane Idalia forced the cancellation of the event so the team will compete in the FAU event instead.
