Men's tennis player Hugo Car advances to ITA Cup final

Eastern Florida State College men's tennis player Hugo Car advanced to the final of the Junior College ITA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore from France defeated Cowley County Community College's Reiya Komagata in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday to make it to the final. It marks the first time a men's tennis player has made the finals of the ITA Cup.

Car will play in the final against No.1 seed Jean-Baptiste Badon from Glendale Community College. Badon beat Tyler Junior College's Dan Persson 6-4, 7-5 in the other semifinal.

Car teamed with Alexandr Achour in the doubles and the duo fell in the semifinals on Saturday. Cowley County's duo of Komagata and Bruno Nhavene beat the Titans duo 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the final.

Car will play for the title and a spot in the ITA Cup Super Bowl against the winners of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA brackets.
