Men's tennis player Corentin Venot wins flight at Saint Leo event

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team fared well in the Saint Leo Lion Fall Invitational at Saint Leo University.

Freshman Corentin Venot won Flight D of the tournament for his first tournament win of the fall season. Venot opened with a win over Saint Leo's William Priddy 6-2, 6-3 and the defeated Miguel Torrenegra 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the finals. In the final Venot defeated Saint Leo's Kayne Trustfull in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3 and 10-7 in the tiebreaker.

Teammate Bernardo Gandara beat Miguel Ferreira of Warner University 6-0, 6-2 in the first round and lost to Trustfull in the semifinals 6-1, 6-1.

Lluc Pasqual Camps lost in the championship match of Flight B. Camps defeated Thomas Andrews 6-2, 6-4 in the first round and then beat Saint Leo's Ghali Mensour 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the finals. Camps fell in the final to Saint Leo's Nicolas Bacella 6-2, 6-0.

In Flight A, Santino Morel Reider and Ramiro Rincon both lost in the semifinals. Reider beat Raul Safont Martinez 6-4, 7-5 and then lost to Saint Leo's Vincent Thiel 6-2, 6-2.

Rincon beat Southeastern's Victory De Oliveira in a third set tiebreaker, 7-5, 0-6, 10-6 but lost to the eventual champion Bruno Faletto 6-3, 6-2.

In Flight C, Jaewoo Choi defeated Southeastern's Theodore Preiswerk 6-1, 6-3 but lost to the eventual champion Luis Iriarte in the semifinal.
