Men's tennis team preparing for national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team is making its second appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament on Monday.

The Titans are No. 3 in the Oracle/ITA NJCAA Men's National Team rankings and No. 1 in Region IV after a 9-1 record in the regular season

The national tournament will be played at Collin College in Plano Texas beginning Monday with the finals set for Friday, May 21.

In singles matches, five Titans are ranked in the top 30 of the national rankings. Tomas Reche will play No. 1 singles and is ranked fifth in the national rankings while Dario Kmet is No. 7 and will play No. 2 singles in the tournament. Mikar Fisher will play No. 3 singles and is 21st in the ranking while Ramiro Rincon is 24th in the ranking and will play No. 4 singles. Sergio Gomez Boix is 29th in the rankings and will be playing No. 5 singles and Jaewoo Choi rounds out the singles players, playing No. 6 singles in the national tournament.

In doubles matches, the Titans have two teams that are ranked in the top 10 in the nation. The No. 1 doubles team of Ramiro Rincon and Dario Kmet come into the national tournament ranked fourth in the nation while the No. 2 doubles team of Fisher and Gomez are ranked ninth.

Reche will team with Bernardo Vieira at No. 3 doubles in the tournament. The duo have teamed up for four wins this season.
