Men's tennis team picks up first win

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team opened the regular season with a victory over Warner University on Wednesday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center.

The Titans took all three doubles matches to open the match.

Mikar Fisher and Sergio Gomez teamed up for the win at No. 1 doubles. The Titans used some strong net play to turn a 3-2 lead into a 6-3 win.

The No. 2 doubles was a battle to the end as the duo of Bernardo Gandara and Luc Pascal Camps picked up the win in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5).

Jaewoo Choi and Ramiro Rincon won the No. 3 doubles 6-4 to give the Titans a 3-0 lead.

In singles, Rincon, Gomez, Camps and Gandara all picked up straight set wins.

At No. 2 singles, Fisher battled back from an early deficit to win the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5) and went on to win the second set 6-4.

The match of the day was the No. 1 singles where Tomas Reche played Warner's Bruno Pessoa. Reche took the first set 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the second set to force a tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was close throughout with Reche falling 10-8.

The men's tennis team will host Southeastern University Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.
