Tennis teams ranked in top 10 preseason poll heading into season opener

The Eastern Florida State College men and women's tennis teams will both open the spring season Friday ranked in the top 10 in the nation. 

Both teams will open the spring season Friday at Saint Leo University beginning at 3 p.m.

The men's team is ranked fifth in the Oracle/ITA JUCO preseason rankings and have four singles players nationally ranked as freshman Tomas Reche is ranked fifth, Antoine Venancio is 10th sophomore Frederik Oervad is 12th and freshman Mikar Fisher is 33rd in the rankings.

The doubles team of Oervad and Arthur Roquet is ranked 15th and the duo of Reche and Fisher come into the spring season No. 19.

The women's team will begin the season No. 7 in the women's JUCO preseason poll and has two sophomores nationally ranked in singles as sophomore Tsveti Trifonova is ranked 17th and Chengeto Moyana is ranked No. 42.

The women's tennis team will be home Feb. 6 against St. Petersburg College while the men's tennis team will be home Feb. 19 against Bates College.
