Oervad, Azucey named ITA All-Americans

Eastern Florida State College men's tennis players Frederik Oervad and Adriel Azucey were recently named NJCAA Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Americans.

Oervad, a freshman from Denmark, made the ITA All-American list in both singles and doubles after being named the Freshman of the Year as well as the ITA Regional Rookie Player of the Year in Region 8.

In singles competition, Oervad made it to the quarterfinals of the national tournament. Teaming with sophomore Adriel Azucey, who is from Miami, the doubles team were named All-Americans after a strong showing in the national tournament. Azucey and Oervad defeated the No. 1 doubles team in the tournament and advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament.

The criteria for All-American recognition are finishing in the top 10 of the final Oracle/ITA national rankings for singles and top five doubles teams for each association. 

The men's tennis team finished the season ranked fifth in the ITA NJCAA Rankings after finishing tied for fourth place in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

It was the second straight year the men's tennis program has made it to the national tournament, finishing in the top six both times.
