Men's tennis team wraps up regular season, preparing for national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a match against NCAA Division I Fordham University on Tuesday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center.

The Titans lost a tight match with Fordham University but have already punched their ticket into the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the second straight season.

The team honored Adriel Azucey, Fabricio Galvan and Nils Michel before the match for their contributions to the program.

Michel was an All-American as a freshman and has had another big season at No. 2 singles for the Titans this season. Michel is ranked No. 12 in the latest Oracle/ITA NJCAA Men's rankings. 

Azucey has been playing No. 3 singles for the Titans this season and is ranked 26th overall in the Oracle/ITA rankings.

Galvan is playing No. 4 singles and made it to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships in the fall.

Freshman Frederik Oervad is No. 3 in the Oracle/ITA rankings and plays No. 1 singles for the Titans. The Miami native reached the finals of the ITA Regional Championships in the fall.

As a team, the Titans are ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.

The national tournament will begin May 13 at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson, Arizona.
