Oervad advances to semifinals in ITA Regional Championships

Eastern Florida State College men's tennis player Frederik Oervad has advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Regional Championships in Tifton, Georgia.

Oervad won two singles matches on Saturday to advance to the semifinals, winning 6-3, 6-0 and then 6-2, 6-1 and will play in the semifinals on Sunday.

"For every match I have played I have been feeling more comfortable on the court," Oervad said. "I am looking forward to competing in the semifinals where I hope I can play even better."

Oervad may face his teammate Fabricio Galvan who is in the third set in his quarterfinal match before rain forced it to be postponed until Sunday. Galvan won his first match of the day, upsetting the No 4 seed 6-4, 6-4.

Galvan teamed with Adriel Azucey to win a back draw doubles match 8-0.

"I am proud of the boys energy, attitude and spirit," Eastern Florida State College assistant coach Brandon Stokes said. "The Titans are growing stronger and representing EFSC well this weekend."
