Men's tennis team plays well on Day 1 of ITA Regional Championships

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team is off to a good start in the ITA Regional Championships in Tifton, Georgia.

The Titans went 3-1 in singles and picked up another win in doubles Friday during the first day of the tournament. The singles and doubles champion this weekend will advance to the ITA National Championship Tournament in Indian Wells, California.

On Friday, sophomore Adriel Azucey won his first match 6-0, 6-0 to advance to Saturday's round of 16. Freshmen teammates Fabricio Galvan and Frederik Oervad also picked up wins on Friday, both matches going to a third set.

"Overall we all played with heart and spirit today," Azucey said. "We came here to do what we had to do and we have really worked hard for this. We just have to keep fighting hard and eventually we will get the results we want as a team."

The team will play two singles matches and two doubles matches on Saturday.
