Men's soccer team hits road Saturday for Southeast District final

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will play for the Southeast District Tournament title Saturday afternoon in Virginia.

The third-ranked Titans will play Richard Bland College in the final at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Richard Bland is the 13-3-3 this season and won the Region 10 Tournament with a 1-0 victory over USC Lancaster. The Statesmen have won six straight heading into the final.

Eastern Florida State College is 14-1 this season and are coming off a 7-0 victory against Southern Union State College in the play-in game of the Southeast District Tournament.

Both teams are in the top 11 in the country in goals allowed average as the Titans are at 0.77 and Richard Bland is 0.79. The Statesmen's Thomas Seymour is fifth in the country in save percentage, coming in at .878 while Eastern Florida's Kodai Tsuzuki is 12th with an .838 save percentage.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the matchup with 68 goals scored which is sixth-best in the nation.

Richard Bland's Nicholas Ihnat has scored 11 goals in 15 games while Titans sophomore Daniele Verdirosi has 10 goals in 13 games.

The winner of the Southeast District Tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning Nov. 12 in Wichita, Kansas.
