Men's soccer team wins fourth straight, tops Lakeland United

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team won its fourth straight game on a wet night at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus.

The eighth-ranked Titans defeated Lakeland United 7-2 Tuesday to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College's Daniele Verdirosi had a hat trick and Jack Nelson scored twice in the victory.

Siphesilhe Maseko opened the scoring with just under 37 minutes left in the first half but Lakeland United tied it up four minutes later. It would remain tied until the final 14 minutes.

Jack Nelson made a nice cross and Enrico Burigotto finished it to give the Titans the lead. Verdirosi scored his first goal of the game with four minutes remaining and then Nelson scored to make it 4-1 at halftime.

Nelson opened the scoring in the second half and then Verdirosi scored twice to record his first hat trick as a Titan.

Nelson now has three goals this season while Verdirosi has now scored seven times.

Eastern Florida State College will host No. 1 Monroe College on Saturday, October 7 at 7 p.m. in a game at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus. The game will be shown on WEFS-TV which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission to games at Orlando Health Stadium is free.
