Men's soccer team posts shutout Sunday afternoon

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team won its third straight game Sunday afternoon against USC Lancaster at Daytona State College.

The Titans, who are ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, defeated USC Lancaster 3-0 for their third straight shutout.

After a scoreless first half the Titans got on the board quicky in the second half, scoring twice in a matter of 20 seconds.

Jaidon Seldon opened the scoring three minutes into the second half. Jack Nelson scored the first of his two goals 20 seconds later.

Up 2-0 the Titans continued to pressure the USC Lancaster defense and Moritz Hohmann hit a nice corner kick that Nelson headed into the back of the net to make it 3-0 in the 69th minute.

"Good team win, everyone involved moved the ball really well and I think we are starting to grow as a group," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Adam Butler said. "No surprise that Jaidon was the first composed man to unlock us. Two great goals from Jack, I would say he evened his tally with me – he was impressive today."

While the Titans offense was clicking, the defense was holding USC Lancaster without a shot on goal in the second half, posting their third straight shutout.

"It was a great clean sheet, it is something we emphasized and we had a good amount of possession today which helps," Butler said.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Orlando Health Stadium Saturday afternoon against Harcum College at noon. The game will be shown live on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission to games at Orlando Health Stadium is free.
