Men's soccer team posts win against Patrick Henry CC

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team won its home opener Saturday night at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans scored three times in the first half to post a 3-1 win and snap a three-game losing streak.

After over an hour weather delay, the Titans wasted little time getting on the board Saturday as Rolando Onu made a nice break 15 minutes into the match, getting behind the defense and beating the keeper to make it 1-0. It was Onu's third goal of the season for the Titans.

Four minutes later Alexzander Diaz-Martinez beat a defender with one dribble and blasted a shot from outside the box that went off the top of the goal and in. It was the first goal of the season for Diaz-Martinez and gave the Titans a 2-0 lead.

With under 15 minutes remaining in the first half, Onu once again beat the defense and this time he crossed it to Preston Price who tapped it by a defender and past the keeper.

Up 3-0 at halftime, Patrick Henry Community College came out strong in the second half and put some pressure on the Titans defense.

With 13:26 remaining a penalty was called in the box giving Patrick Henry CC a penalty kick. They converted the penalty kick to cut the lead to 3-1. But that would be as close as they would get as the Titans improved to 4-4 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to North Carolina next weekend to play Cape Fear Community College on Saturday afternoon.
