Men's soccer team knocks off No. 9 Snow College in overtime

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team opened the regular season with a thrilling win over No. 9 Snow College Thursday in Herriman, Utah.

Freshman Sam Bayly took a pass from Luke Sexton and slotted it into the corner of the goal for the game winner four minutes and 15 seconds into the first overtime to lift the Titans to a 2-1 victory in overtime at Zion Bank Stadium.

Snow College came out of the gates fast and scored in the first two minutes of the contest to take a 1-0 lead.

The Titans came out in the second half looking stronger, outshooting the Badgers 9-3 in the second half. But a penalty in the box with 9:44 remaining gave Rolando Onu a shot to tie it. He blasted a shot into the upper corner of the net to tie the game.

It looked like Eastern Florida State College may get a chance to win it in regulation after a penalty right outside the box in the final seconds, but time ran out before the Titans could get the kick off, sending the game to overtime.

The Titans had both shots in the overtime period and improved to 1-0 in a game that saw 10 yellow cards and a red card issued.

"Really love the effort of the team today getting a big win over Snow College that is very deserving of their number 9 ranking," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Jeff Carr said. "We gave up a goal early and responded well. As the game went on, we started getting better and we really grew into the game. I am very proud of the boys and the work they put in today."

Eastern Florida State College will play No. 1 Salt Lake City Community College at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at Zion Bank Stadium.
