Men's soccer team opens national tournament against Pima on Monday

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team is the No. 4 seed at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.

The Titans will have a tough opener on Monday afternoon, facing the defending national champion Pima Community College who comes in as the No. 9 seed in a Pool D game at 4 p.m.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the tournament at 13-1-2 this season and are coming off a tie with Louisburg College in the Southeast District Final that took a school-record 16 rounds of penalty kicks to be decided. Louisburg is the No. 2 seed in the tournament. 

Pima is 14-2-3 overall and have now been to the national tournament four straight years, finishing in the semifinals each of the past three trips. The Aztecs are led by sophomore Itsuki Ishihara who has 13 goals this season.

On Wednesday the Titans will play No. 5 seed Essex County who is 12-2-1 this season and are led by Martim Cardoso who has 14 goals.

Sophomore Aedon Kyra leads the Titans with 13 goals while the defense has held opponents to 0.69 goals per game this season.
