Men's soccer team claims Region 8 title with 4-2 win

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team scored four times in the second half to win the Region 8 Tournament title for the third straight season.

The fourth-ranked Titans, who improved to 12-1-1 overall, came out in the second half fast as Abdel Kuku opened the scoring 10 minutes into the half. Sophomore teammate Aiden Kyra made it 2-0 a little over a minute later. Five minutes later it was 3-0 as Schimiliguen Castin found the back of the net.

Tomas Iglesias broke free and was taken down in the box. He would score the penalty kick to make it 4-0.

But Broward College scored with 10:05 left and picked up a second goal a minute later to cut the lead to 4-2.

"Really proud of the boys effort, they have been focused since Day 1, they work so hard on the training ground and I am proud of the sophomores, showing great leadership and wanting this and get back to the national tournament," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "The first half was even, both teams had chances, but we knew if we stayed in the game we would have chances and in the second half we scored some fantastic goals. Great strike from Kuku, what a great finish from our captain and then Aedon's header was a great counter-attack."

The Titans will host the Southeast District Tournament next week at Orlando Health Stadium.
