Men's soccer team plays Broward College for Region 8 title Saturday

For the second straight year the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will play Broward College for the Region 8 Tournament championship on Saturday night.

This time it is at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans come into the matchup 11-1-1 overall and No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and are 1-0-1 this season against Broward.

The Seahawks advanced to the championship game after defeating Daytona State College 2-1 on Wednesday night. Broward comes into the matchup 6-3-1 on the season and the two teams tied 1-1 in the first game and the Titans won the second matchup 4-0 at Orlando Health Stadium.

"We are excited to end the trilogy vs. Broward here in the region final," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "We have played two highly competitive matches and know this next one will be even tougher. The team is ready for the playoffs and looking forward to the game with the right mentality."

Eastern Florida State College boasts one of the top defenses in the country, allowing 0.70 goals per game which is 11th in NJCAA Division I soccer. Sophomore goalkeeper Nour Moaoui is fourth in the nation in save percentage at .897 and has seven shutouts this season.

Offensively, sophomore Aedon Kyra leads Region 8 with 10 goals this season while freshman Levonte Johnson has scored eight goals this season. As a team, the Titans have scored 40 goals in 13 games this season.

The winner of Saturday night's game will advance to the Southeast District Tournament and host Region 10, 17 and 22 winners next week. The winner will be the host on Nov. 8-9.
