Men's soccer team plays for regular season title Wednesday night
The Region 8 Conference men's soccer regular season championship will be up for grabs Wednesday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
The Titans will host Broward College at 6 p.m. at Orlando Health Stadium in a showdown of unbeaten teams in the conference.
The two teams tied 1-1 in the first meeting at Broward College and the past three meetings have been decided by one goal.
Eastern Florida State College has used a strong defense led by goalkeeper Nour Moaoui who leads the country in save percentage (.939) as well as goals against, allowing just two goals in nine games. The Titans come into the contest 4-0-1 in the conference and 10-1-1 overall.
Broward College is also 4-0-1 on the season and is led by their goalkeeper Michal Gorszczaryk who has 21 saves in five games this season, allowing just seven goals.
Offensively the Titans are led by the duo of Aedon Kyra and Levonte Johnson who have combined for 17 goals this season.
The Titans lead the series 14-2-2 with Broward picking up both wins last year but Eastern Florida State College won the Region 8 Conference title to advance to the district tournament.
"This will be a fantastic match to try and win another title here at EFSC. We have a lot of respect for coach Munga and his team that have competed so well over the last two seasons," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "It is also fitting to honor such a special group of sophomores that will play their last regular season game here on sophomore night and have the opportunity to win the conference title. We are expecting a quality game that will showcase the quality of NJCAA soccer in Florida."
The 11 sophomores will be honored after the game which begins at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
