Men's soccer team travels to Broward for first-place battle

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team heads to Broward College Friday for a battle of first-place teams in the Region 8 Conference.

Both the Titans and the Seahawks come into the matchup 3-0 in the conference.

"We are looking forward to this game against an undefeated conference team. It will be a tough game for us as Broward is excellent defensively with an impressive counter attack," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said.

The Titans, who are No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll at 9-1 overall, have allowed just one goal in the past seven games and lead the conference with a 0.62 goals against average this season. The Seahawks have only allowed eight goals this season and are coming off a 2-0 win against Daytona State College.

The two teams played three times last season with all three ending 1-0, including the conference championship game where the Titans won on a Schimiliguen Castin goal to advance to the regional tournament.

Friday night's game will begin at 6 p.m. in Pembroke Pines. The Titans will host Daytona State College next Wednesday and then Broward College to wrap up the regular season on Oct. 23.
