Men's soccer team opens conference season on the road Friday

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team will hit the road Friday to open the Region 8 Conference season.

The No. 3-ranked Titans will travel to Daytona State College to face the No. 9 Falcons at 7 p.m. in a game that can be seen locally on WDSC-TV and on the Daytona State College YouTube page.

Eastern Florida State College comes into the matchup 4-1 on the season and have three shutouts while averaging 4.80 goals per game.

"We are really looking forward to the challenge Daytona State brings," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "There will be some fantastic footballers on the pitch on both sides and we know we will have to be at our very best to get a result."

Daytona State College is 5-1 after opening the Region 8 Conference Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss to Broward College.

The game will feature the top four scorers in Region 8 as Eastern Florida State College's Aedon Kyra has seven goals and Levonte Johnson has scored five times. For the Falcons, Dujon Martin has five goals while D'Angelo Mullings has scored three times.

The Titans have won the past two Region 8 titles and hold a 5-3-1 advantage in the series heading into Friday night's matchup.
