Men's soccer team shuts out CCBC Essex

The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team shut out host CCBC Essex 7-0 in the Knights Kickoff Classic in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday.

Sophomore Aedon Kyra scored three times in the second half and now has five goals in two games.

Sophomore Abdel Kuku got the offense going with his first goal of the season with a nice sliding shot.

Freshman Levonte Johnson took a nice chip pass from Marc Grifell and blasted it into the back of the net to make it 2-0. It was Johnson's third goal of the season.

Grifell slid a shot into the corner of the net with under three minutes left in the first half to make it 3-0.

Kyra scored the first three goals of the second half including a penalty kick to give the Titans a commanding 6-0 lead.

Freshman Ian Leighton scored a nice goal in the final minute of the match to put the finishing touches on the win. 

Freshman goalkeeper Hayden Sarjian made a couple of nice saves, recording the shutout for the Titans, who are now 2-0 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College, who is No. 5 in the NJCAA Division I poll, will face No. 4 Monroe College at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Monroe College defeated Harcum College 9-0 on Saturday. The game will be shown live on the CCBC Essex YouTube page.
